Welcome to the Sorg Opera House

Hi, friends! I'm Nancy Griffith, President of the board of directors for the Sorg Opera Revitalization Group, and I want to personally welcome you to our beautiful and history-filled building. Our theater was built by Middletown industrialist Paul J. Sorg and opened in 1891. Its stage has been graced by the likes of John Phillip Souza, Will Rogers, Al Jolson, and even Bob Hope. As we continue to renovate and restore the building, we strive to provide unique and intriguing theater, performances, and live music for your enjoyment. We hope you find this audio tour insightful and are able to learn something new about us. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of our helpful volunteers. You'll see them in the Sorg t-shirts around the theater. Your support is what keeps this wonderful building alive, so I personally thank you for being here and sincerely hope you enjoy the show!
