Chris Warot - "The First Day I"

My name is Chris Warot and I live in Aurora Colorado.

After working with watercolor, acrylic paint and colored pencil for a number  of years, I took a monotype printmaking class which started the first week  of the new millennium, well over 20 years ago. The instant I pulled my first  monotype, I wanted to make another one, then another, and another. With

most of my art being experimental, I found a new way to play and create  with infinite possibilities.

After a couple of years of creating monotypes, I was reading a book called  ‘Voices Of The First Day’ about the origins of the indigenous people of  Australia, and decided to create a monotype called The First Day using  new techniques and a fresh approach. What happened over the next few  weeks was The First Day series of ten monotypes, with the first one being  part of this exhibition.

Getting side tracked happens a lot to me, which leads me in new directions  to explore, and provides opportunities for me to learn how to accomplish  new things and take on challenges. For me a lot of my art is spontaneous  inspiration, not only welcoming the muse but a collaboration as well.
