Moss Pig - "You're Only as Good as You Are"

When we were invited to participate in this One Sheet project, we were very excited.  We thought hard about how to best represent our music visually.  We are hardly academic in our approach, and we wanted to represent ourselves as honestly as possible.  Using our process as a starting point, we came to the realization that Moss Pig really only exists on the dance floor. The music we chose to provide with our piece  is actually a live recording from a Rocky Mountain Synth event - full of inspired moments and mistakes alike.

We bring our machines out, plug them in and respond in real time, one at a time, to the environment we are in and the community of synth and music lovers that surround us when we come together at these various venues, meets and parties.  On our One Sheet board, which is a recreation of a flier wall,, you’ll see different artist names, venues and businesses associated with these events - the literal inspiration for and environment where Moss Pig was born.

Instead of musical notes on a staff, we thought it fitting to simply represent the machines we use to make our music.  It’s the palette, so to speak, that each of us is gazing down upon when we perform.  The goal is to unlock the rhythms and sounds enclosed therein to bring joy, celebration and movement to this community of friends, dancers and musicians we love and who mirror that love back to us.

And like our mentor, Mike Monday, always says, “You’re really only as good as you are.”
