Continue to the North Wall

As you face to the north you are looking at Cumberland Island, Georgia. There were often troops stationed on that island to assist in guarding the Cumberland Sound. During the Civil War, there was a coastal blockade from Virginia to Texas referred to as Scott's Great Snake, named after General Winfield Scott. Some southern-funded merchant ships would manage to run the blockade. And when the fort was under Confederate Control the Sound became safe haven.
