This garden is meant for exploration and discovery for children and the young at heart. There are many elements to climb, crawl, and explore hands-on in this garden, including an eagles nest, a fairy garden, and a reading railroad.
The tree and eagle's nest sculpture was designed and built out of Ferro-cement by Dr. Gerald Klingamen, with cedar trees that grew in arcs after a windstorm. The Bulldog statue that stands on the path is named Arnold after Dr. Kingamen's dog who sat and watched him work.
There's a hidden mural inside the tree, which was painted by the local artist, Brandon Bullette. All of the creatures in the mural are related to trees. Can you figure out how each of these creatures are related to trees?
Beyond the weeping willow tree, the children's garden continues outside the wooden fences. Here you will find another impressive Ferro-cement sculpture that was designed and constructed by the local artists Eugene Surgent. This is called the Reading Railroad and was designed to provide a space for small groups to gather and listen to a story inside the amphitheater shaped area.
