Dining Room

We know that Grace redecorated the dining room at some point in her life. In fact, we think she did this redecorating after her husband Herbert passed away in 1930. A photograph of this room from about 1901 reveals a different dining room table, a marble-top buffet in place of the highboy, and a heavily patterned wallpaper.

The table and highboy you see today are Chippendale reproductions Grace purchased. Chippendale furniture originated with London cabinetmaker Thomas Chippendale in the 18th century, but it saw a resurgence in the first decades of the 20th century.
