3. MAMA. Death Sentence (1960)

Ecaterina Bălăcioiu was left alone in Bucharest after her daughter's departure. They have an intense correspondence, and Monica Lovinescu makes every effort to bring her mother to France. While preparing her room in Paris, she learns that she has been arrested and then sentenced to 18 years in prison. Her mother dies in 1960 in Văcărești prison for lack of vital medical cares.
