By an agreement between James Mapes and Philip Church (Angelica’s founding father), this house was to be built by March 24, 1821, as a framed house in size not less than 18ft by 24ft. Both the front porch and rear third of the building were removed in 1980. Some argue that the original house was the part removed, but the present owner disputes this. In the 1990’s and 2000’s the building housed two local lawyer’s offices as well as offices of The Booster News, Angelica’s hometown news source.
