In the early 1990s, Andrei Pleșu, Minister of Culture, entrusted painter Horia Bernea with an almost impossible task: to revive the Romanian Peasant Museum, which had been illegally destroyed in the 1950s by the communist regime and transformed into a museum for the political party. No one could have predicted at the time that this decision would lead to the collaboration of two exceptional personalities: Horia Bernea and Irina Nicolau.
