Honeysuckle

Now while the Pin Oak and the Silvery Maple help the local animals, unfortunately the Site has been exposed to invasive plant species that do more harm than good for the local ecosystem. Next we will talk about two in particular that you can keep an eye out for during your walk through the trail.

Danger, danger! This bush growing around 6 feet tall may be beautiful but is very harmful indeed to other plants. Lonicera is an invasive species imported from Japan for erosion control and decoration and continues to spread like crazy. The bush has spread to around 15 ft. and the roots choke out other plants. By doing this it is crowding out native plants that are key for the local ecosystem. The color of its flowers range from yellow and peach to red and white. This plant is also poisonous to dogs.
