In front of us you will see the Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science, a tall brick building with a silver dome. Ritchie School students and faculty are engaged in cutting-edge research in all sorts of fields, from social robotics to power system protection to human movement biomechanics. They’re changing our understanding of everything from cardiac health to cybersecurity.
One of the coolest spaces on our campus is the Innovation Floor on the lowest level of the Engineering and Computer Science Building. Accessible to any student on campus at no cost, the Maker Space on the Innovation Floor is equipped with technology and machines like 3D printers, a laser engraver and a CNC router among others. This is a space where ideas become prototypes and products, and this is just one of the 4 maker spaces on DU’s campus.
To the west of the Ritchie School are some of the buildings that house the school of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Olin Hall is a shorter building with a copper dome that houses teaching laboratories. The Boettcher Complex, which are the light stone buildings, house labs, classrooms, and auditoriums. One of the most popular majors at DU is biological sciences in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
If you look to the east, you will see a beautiful white stone building with a rose-shaped window. This is the Newman Center for the Performing Arts, which houses the Lamont School of Music. Lamont students, faculty and visiting artists put on more than 300 concerts every year.
