The Liberal Arts Philosophy - Sturm Hall

We are now outside Sturm Hall on the west side of Driscoll Green, facing east to the Burwell Center for Career Achievement.

Sturm Hall is home to the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. While being a major research university, we have a liberal arts philosophy at our core, and work to ensure that all graduates are exceptional writers, have strong quantitative reasoning skills, and are able to excel in a number of fields.

Behind Sturm Hall we have the Dimond Family Residential Village, which you saw from the Ritchie Center lookout. This building was completed in Fall of 2020, and is the newest first-year residence hall on campus.

The Burwell Center for Career Achievement, across the green to the east from Sturm, was also completed in Fall of 2020. This space embraces something I love about DU: the desire to succeed during and after our four years here. This is the new home of Career Advising and Alumni Relations, with resume and cover letter help, mock interviews, an alumni network, and many internship opportunities. The Burwell Center for Career Achievement is actively working to make sure students are well prepared to succeed beyond DU. It’s succeeding, because 90% of graduates in the 2019 class were employed or enrolled in graduate school six months after graduation.

Continue down the path in front of Sturm to cross Evans Ave. The second building on the right will be our next stop - the Joy Burns Center (also known as the Knoebel School of Hospitality Management).
