Carlos Fresquez

You Might Recognize

A larger sculpture on S. Sheridan and W. Morrison Road, a big red guitar. The sculpture is titled "Un Corrido para la Gente" ... (a ballad for the people). One of the few murals remaining in our city that I painted years ago is the "Denver Vaquero '' mural on 35th and Downing.

Public Art Average Success Rate:

My best guess is 35%.

Rejected Project Proposal

Proposed Project Location:

Denver's, "La Raza Park" on 38th and Osage.

Concept:

My concept was to paint the color of the four directions of the first nations in our region and in central Mexico. In my proposal sketch I included a circular city of Denver looking somewhat like a Mexica sunstone (an Aztec calendar). My intent was to also paint the portraits of past Chicanas and Chicanos who have made an impact in our region and country.

"I Regret to Inform You.." Artist Response:

I have no problem with rejection, rejection is part of life. This or any rejection does not discourage me nor motivate me, it centers me, it grounds me.
