William Beardmore & Co Ltd’s Parkhead Forge was developed before the First World War to make munitions, including large gun barrels for heavy warships. This massive workshop was built in 1900-01 to house the large machine tools needed to make these and other massive steel products. It was one of the largest buildings of its type in the city.
