This part of the Anderston Cotton Work was built for spinning fine cotton yarn by Henry Houldsworth in about 1804-06. This view shows the part of the works which collapsed in 1964 under the weight of 467 casks of maturing Scotch whisky, revealing the mill’s cast-iron and brick ‘fireproof’ construction.
