Looking up you will see more of the beautiful stained glass that is throughout the cathedral.
In the East transept you will see the Marian chapel. This chapel displays several symbols associated with Mary in the "Litany of Loretto."
The ceiling of this transept depicts her Assumption into Heaven and her Coronation as Queen of Heaven.
On your left, in between the Marian chapel and the main altar you can see hanging on the wall, a bust of Saint Augustine. He is the Patron saint of our diocese as well as this cathedral and, who this city is named after.
Below that, you can see the decree from Pope Paul the 6th, raising the cathedral to the status of minor basilica on December 4th, 1976.
For the next stop, please move in front of the Marian shrine, then start the next stop.
