Social, political, and economic legacy of wartime efforts in Georgia
Social: While some women took on the traditional roles such as caretakers and homemakers, other women were searching for more opportunities. Almost 19 million women were in the workforce, 6 million of which were new workeeconomicrs. Women worked on farms, factories, and other areas previously dominated by men. Some enlisted as nurses, and others served for the military or government. The impact on socialism through Georgia was also quite immense. For one, colleges received quite a large boom in enrollment due to the economic impact of the war. Also, the war led up to the Civil Rights and Women’s Suffrage movements due to them heping in the war effort. As such, they felt that they should have each right the U.S. had to offer.
Political: The war allowed for the rise of nationalism in the United States due to the victory. Many new kinds of political figures were able to take hold of positions. The war’s end also began Georgia’s slow switch to majorly Republican. World War Two also was a major reason as to why the Cold War event occurred. Many citizens were also angered that nuclear research was becoming more popular due to Japan's destruction.
Economic: The war reduced jobs, creating more unemployment. After World War Two however, Georgia began seeing a steady increase in employment. Due to the victory over the Axis powers, the United States received over 10 billion dollars in war reparations.
