In 2009, BMW launched the S 1000 RR, designed for production-based racing with an aluminum beam frame and water-cooled inline four-cylinder engine. The S 1000 RR won the 2010 World Supersport championship, and in 2012 took BMW’s first World Superbike race win. Continuously updated, the bike has been spun off into the S 1000 R “dynamic roadster” and S 1000 XR “adventure sport” designed under Edgar Heinrich. The R emphasizes cornering over than top speed, which is perfect for Mike Kent, owner of the S 1000 R seen here. “I’m a big fan of naked bike aesthetics, and the riding position is perfect for back-road enjoyment.”
