2002 FORMULA BMW
Having supplied engines to the Formula BMW ADAC series since 1991, BMW took over the series in 2002, this time providing entire cars to Formula BMW. Designed by Michael Scully at BMW DesignworksUSA in California, the carbon-Kevlar composite F-BMW was powered by the 140-hp, four-cylinder engine from the 1997 K 1200 RS, mated to a Hewland six-speed sequential gearbox. A series for young drivers, F-BMW ran through 2010, and graduates include F1 champions Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg.
