Exhibit four- A representation of the attack on Pearl Harbor by Japan. On December 7, 1941, Japan attacked the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Japanese bombers struck just before 8 a.m., before many Americans at the naval base were even awake. The surprise attack sank or damaged eight U.S. battleships, 13 other ships, and 188 airplanes. More than 2,300 people lost their lives that day. This was the final straw for the United States, for President Roosevelt would announce the next day, December 8, 1941, that America had joined the war.
