Exhibit Three- A representation of how the United States used the Lend-Lease Act, to help out their Allies in the war. The Lend-Lease Act was passed in March, 1941. It allowed Congress to lend or lease weapons, supplies, and equipment to any country whose defense was critical to the U.S. security. Through Lend-Lease aid, Roosevelt hoped to help the Allies win the war without sending U.S. troops to fight in Europe. The Lend-Lease program gave the Allies more than 50 billion dollars in supplies, which included ammunition, tanks, airplanes, and food, in exchange for U.S. military base rights in countries. Most of the Lend-Lease aid went to help defend Britain against German invasion. However, Lend-Lease supplies and weapons were also sent to Mediterranean nations fighting against Fascist Italy. The Lend-Lease aid also helped China fight against Japan in the Pacific. It is said that the Lend-Lease Act ended the "pretension" of U.S. neutrality in the face of war.
