The following building, known as the Danielson Building, was built in 1885 with some nice Romanesque designs and unusual cornice of brick. Recently renovated, the first-floor façade is no longer historically accurate but is of the era and tastefully done.
If you have been noticing the dates of the buildings, you will have realized by now that Trinidad did not, like most river towns, start by the river and build uphill. That’s because Trinidad is not a river town, despite having a river flow through it. Rather, Trinidad is a Santa Fe Trail town and began developing where the two major routes of the trail came together. It took almost 40 years to build down to the river with permanent buildings.
