THE HATCH

Sculptor Peter Hazel, of King's Beach, California, has displayed several of his pieces on the Art Walk over the years.  "The Hatch", is one in a series, of swirling, leaping and life-like fish, that now grace several fishing lodges and cities in Canada and the United States.  The artist is also known for his gigantic jellyfish and octopi sculptures at the annual Burning Man event. This piece is for sale for $12,000. The artist can also create it for you, with different fish.

A poem inspired by this sculpture:

The Hatch

Do you still have to look before you leap,

if you never intend to land?

Every day a fight to not move forward

                                   not fall back

Staying still: the goal

The one thing never mastered

We fear silence

       Stillness

We do not realize that in silent stillness

We are not lost

     Simple moments

   Hold fast

     to depend upon.
