Directions to Staten Island

From the Visitor Center, head south on Franklin Boulevard towards Thornton.  When you reach the end of Franklin Boulevard, turn right and continue west past the freeway on Thornton-Walnut Grove Road.  Driving west, you’ll pass the New Hope Marina and Wimpy’s Restaurant on your right, then cross over the south fork of the Mokelumne River.  After crossing this bridge, you enter Staten Island, a 9,200-acre property acquired by The Nature Conservancy in 2002.  Turn left on Staten Island Road for some good waterfowl viewing opportunities in season.  Please do not leave the main road, as this is an actively farmed property.
