Frank Cable

Frank Cable died at age 34 in 1878 from injuries he sustained in the Phelix Mine when a boulder fell on him. He was born in Michigan and traveled with his parents at the age of five to California during the 1849 gold rush. The family moved to Oregon for a while before Frank and his brother Marion set out to seek their fortunes in the Owyhee mines.

His obituary stated he was a young man of sterling qualities. "He won the esteem of all who knew him, and everything that friends could do for his relief was done, but injuries were of such a nature that recovery seemed impossible. He left a father, mother, five brothers and one sister to mourn his untimely death."
