Hello, welcome to Gilpin Lake in the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness Area.
This piece is created solely with paper, giving one sheet a new life. The entire landscape is composed of paper strips adhered on edge. The strips vary in height within the upper part of the composition where the mountains reside in the distance. This creates a variation of value from each strip’s corresponding shadow. The height of the strips is uniform within the hills in the forefront. In between, and in the counter space, lies the beautiful and serene lake.
My goal for this piece was to explore the potential of paper in its purest form, and give it an opportunity to be both the story and the storyteller in a work of art.
