Charles Schneider

After intense suffering which lasted several days and nights, Charles Schneider quietly breathed his last at his residence in this city on January 18, 1879 at age 32.

He met with a terrible accident on New Years’ Day getting his arm crushed in the machinery of the Leonard Mill. The limb was successfully amputated by Dr. Peters and was healing rapidly. Unfortunately complications arose running from fever and cold to a severe difficulty of the lungs, which had been affected for a long time. His system, having received a severe shock by the accident, was too difficult to rally. All that could be done was done.

Charles was born in Menstead Germany in April 1842 and had been a resident of this territory for several years. He was known as a very faithful, reliable and honest man. He leaves a widow and six children to share their bereavement.
