The end of production for the classic Mini was in October 2000. In 2000, Mini produced four final editions of the classic Mini. The Mini Classic Se7en, Mini Classic Cooper, Mini Classic Cooper Sport, and this Mini Knightsbridge you see here.
This Mini Knightsbridge edition was based on the Mini Cooper Sport but built in a limited-edition form. Only about 684 Knightsbridge edition Minis were built to celebrate the end of the classic Mini. The Knightsbridge Minis were available in only three colors, British green, black, or gold. Most interesting is that most of these last editions of the classic Mini were set up as left-hand drive cars. Being the last of the line the people at Mini built these last of the classic Minis with a very luxurious cabin. Today the Mini Knightsbridge cars are highly sought-after by collectors. It is named after the affluent district in London, the Knightsbridge edition offers a touch of luxury and sophistication to the iconic Mini.
MINI USA bought this car to promote the Motoring legend that MINI was and still is today. Basically, making sure that MINI would always remember its roots.
This Knightsbridge edition Mini was made in Birmingham, England and then lived in Warwick, England for six months.
After coming to the US, it was part of the national MINI tour. MINI USA kept the car for their classic collection. Since then, it has appeared in several magazines and TV shows.
The final Mini, a red Cooper Sport, rolled off the production line on October 4, 2000. A total of 5,387,862 Mini Coopers had been produced from 1959 to 2000.
