The Natchez Trace Parkway

Welcome to the Natchez Trace Parkway National Park.  The National Park Service calls it a Drive through 10,000 years of history.  The Parkway is a 444-mile recreational road and scenic drive through three states. It roughly follows the "Old Natchez Trace", a historic travel corridor used by American Indians, "Kaintucks," European settlers, slave traders, soldiers, and future presidents.  You will notice milepost markers on the parkway.  We will use them as reference points throughout the tour.  

 

Don’t be surprised if you see people riding horses on the trails near the parkway for the next 25 miles.  The horse trail is located one mile south of Tennessee Highway 46 near the Leipers Fork Community. The trail parallels the parkway from the Garrison Creek comfort station at Milepost 427 point 6 to the parking area near Highway 50 at Milepost 408 point 0.
