The O'Neil Family

Lynda O'Neil passed away at age 46 at her home after an illness of several weeks. She was born in Cincinnati Ohio in 1854 and when but seven years of age crossed the plains with her parents to CA. The family later moved to Nevada where she met and married Dave O’Neil, a native of Ireland, in 1873. They came to Silver in 1896 and Mr. O’Neil died in 1904. His obituary only states that Uncle Dave O’Neil, age 60, crossed the great divide Sunday after a short illness.

Lynda, or Ethalinda Clark as stated on her marriage certificate, made her home in Silver after her husband’s death along with her son and daughter. She was survived by a son, Dave, a daughter, Mrs. Will Stoddard, two grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a sister, in Nevada, then in her eightieth year and the sole survivor of a family of 13 children.

Mrs. O’Neil was noted for her kindly ministrations and practical sympathy toward all in sickness or distress. Her occupation was listed as nurse in the 1910 census (fact check) and it stated that she was living at that time with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a member of the Protestant Episcopal church and the order of Rebekah and was held in high esteem by those who knew her well.
