Bathhouse

The bathhouse stands in its original location. It is a replica of the one used by Maria Orsua as a child and was created from her recollection. Water would have been brought from a nearby well or creek and then heated. The small metal tub shows how sparingly water was used for bathing, which took place once a week. Working on a ranch meant you were often getting dirty, so in-between baths they would clean their hands and faces often. There was no bathroom in the original adobe. You would go to the outhouse to use the restroom, and the bathhouse to clean up.
