Chevrolet Dealership

Ray Wafler built this building in 1906. George Engle leased it from him to run a Chevrolet dealership, interestingly one of three dealerships in Angelica! Harry Bullock, who started working there in 1916 and became a long-time employee of George’s, rented the garage after George’s death, thus the name Bullock’s Garage. Harry eventually bought the garage in 1954 and ran the Esso gas station there until 1977. Primarily he sold gas and did automobile and school bus repair. After some renovations, Angelica Central School rented the building from 1977 to 1989 for a bus garage with Glenn Bullock as the mechanic. Upon Harry’s death in 1979, Glenn took over ownership of the building until the 1990’s. After sitting idle for years, the building was purchased by Polyvest, Inc., a company made up of local Angelicans Dean Gallmann, Robert Gallmann, John “Skip” Hecker, and Charlie Stark. The building was renovated into a retail store known as The Old Garage, honoring the building’s history. In January 2003, the building was purchased by C.N.D. Black, Inc (Chris and Denise Rifenberg). Still known as The Old Garage, the business continued to function as a retail store, selling antiques, collectibles, gifts, cards, music, and jewelry. Currently, since May 2009, Gordon and Deb Arbor are continuing the antique shop tradition with Delectable Collectible.
