Common's Garage

After possibly working in a garage starting as early as 1933, Charlie Common opened his garage, C F Common and Son, near the Joncy Bridge, in 1945 mainly selling gas and repairing automobiles, but sold cars as well. At one point, his business was one of five in Angelica! Charlie closed his business “in 1972 because of poor health.” Current inhabitants of the property state that the original service bell is still on the wall in the house. Another piece remaining from the garage is the original C. F. Common sign above the garage door can still be seen and will be repainted soon. A long-time Angelica resident who knew Charlie, shared that he like nice cars. As a lifelong mechanic, the last car he owned he ironically had to take to the dealership to be worked on because with all the electronics it was so different and advanced from the ones he worked on. How frustrating for Charlie!
