Much of my figurative work is expressive, rather than literal. Errands, Fading, and Yellow Car are examples of this. Sometimes, I start out doing a tight rendering, but then it becomes too confining and uninteresting, and I want to create a certain atmosphere instead. Untitled 41 is an exception. In this piece, I wanted to create a setting, an atmosphere, in a literal way. I leave any interpretation of these pieces up to the viewer.
