My Raw Deal series addresses our dark national history of slavery and everything that’s evolved from that. It’s a reminder of the constant fear that Black men (and women as well) must have felt even after so-called liberation. I used the serial imagery to suggest that brutality against Black people, especially young men, seems to be endless.
