Original Hot Dog on a Stick

If you have ever been in a mall in America you most likely have seen a Hotdog on a Stick restaurant in the food court with their famous red, white and blue uniforms.

Hot Dog on a Stick opened its first restaurant  at this very location in 1946. Dave Barham opened a food stand named Party Puffs here at  Santa Monica Pier. Initially offering ice cream cones and lemonade, Barham's life changed when he perfected his mother's cornbread recipe and created the iconic Hot Dog on a Stick. Recognizing its potential, he hit the road, selling his delicious creation at county fairs using his Lincoln Continental as a power source for his portable stands. The vibrant red and white striped uniforms of the Hotdoggers soon became a hit, making Hot Dog on a Stick a mall sensation.

The early days of Hot Dog on a Stick featured Hotdoggers wearing playful polka dot uniforms. However, the company transitioned to the now-famous red, white, and blue striped outfits that have become emblematic of the brand's commitment to exceptional customer service and a fun-filled atmosphere. The coveted Hot Dog on a Stick hats are meant to stay within the store, but don't worry, paper replicas and Halloween costumes are available for fans to enjoy.

While the brand has expanded to 70 stores across seven states, it has not forgotten its humble beginnings. The original building in Santa Monica, where Dave Barham first introduced the Hot Dog on a Stick.
