Sweetgum, Moraine

Introducing the Moraine Sweetgum, scientifically known as Liquidambar styraciflua 'Moraine'. This cultivar of the Sweetgum tree is particularly noted for its cold hardiness, making it an excellent choice for the Northern Midwest. Like other Sweetgum cultivars, it showcases a stunning array of vibrant fall colors, with leaves turning shades of red, purple, orange, and yellow. The Moraine Sweetgum typically grows to a height of around 60 feet and features a pyramidal crown. As the tree matures, the crown transitions to a more oval shape, and the bark develops deep fissures, adding to its visual appeal. This straight, stately tree brings both resilience and beauty to landscapes, providing seasonal interest with its spectacular autumn foliage and strong, structured form.
