Glossary of Suicide Terms:
Crisis - A situation where a person is attempting or seriously thinking or planning on killing themself. This situation is considered a medical emergency requiring immediate intervention.
Mental Health - The ability to act healthily and positively in regard to emotional, psychological, and other mental functions.
Self-Harm or Self-Injury - Ways in which an individual harms themself or their well-being.
Suicidal Behavior - A spectrum of activities and behaviors relating to suicide, from thoughts, contemplation, planning, and attempting suicide.
Suicidal Ideation - Thoughts and contemplation around suicide.
