A bed can be a safe space. When our minds are acting up and suicidal ideation is at its worst, the warm, soft comfort of our beds can be a safe place to escape to. However, staying in bed with only our unhealthy thoughts to keep us company can also add to the already present despair. Make safe plans first thing in the day. Have a reason to get up and be vertical. Make your bed to discourage you from climbing back in. Your bed is still there if you need a safe, soft place to escape to in the end.
