The French Glass

This 16th century French stained glass panel was rescued from the church of St Nicholas des Painteurs in Rouen when the church was demolished in 1840. It depicts Salvation through: Charity, Prayer and Mankind. Donated to the Abbey in 1975 in memory of Captain Charles Neill, it is the earliest stained glass in the Abbey. A separate panel shows the crest of 49 Squadron Bomber Command in which Captain Neill served during the Second World War.
