The tomb chest, with three (reproduction) shields on the front, is actually the tomb of one of Romsey’s abbesses. Now used as an altar, it was moved into this position in the 20th century and may be the tomb of Anne Westbroke (died 1523) or Johanna Brygges (died 1472).
The chapel window was made in 1879 by Clayton and Bell and shows the Adoration of the Shepherds.
The wall painting, to the right, which dates from the early 13th century, is believed to show scenes from the life of St Nicholas. It was here that the 'Romsey Rose' was found in 1976 when the painting underwent restoration.
