Cows & Pigs

The gentle giants of the farm are the cows.  The majestic reddish colored Scottish Highland cattle love to meander around and enjoy hand-fed treats.  Give them anything from your bag but if you decide to give them an apple, just be sure to break in half first.  The Holsteins are the black and white cattle.  Typically we have young male calves from the time they are just a few weeks old in the springtime.  Enjoy getting slobbery cow kisses from them and be sure to wash your hands afterwards.  Our cows stay here from Spring-Fall and then enjoy a winter holiday at our other local farm.  

The pigs are always a highlight for visitors.  They are also one of the smartest animals here.  Pigs are said to be as smart as a five year old human!  They enjoy eating all fruits and veggies and love music.  Will you sing a song for them?  

Fun Facts: The oldest animals on the farm are 14 years old!  Those include Braveheart and Ina (Highlands), Chop Chop (pig), Snow White (donkey) and Eve (big brown goat).
