Cobbers Monument

To the right of the fountain is “The Cobbers” monument. “The Cobbers” depicts a scene from the Battle of Fromelles in 1916, where Sergeant Simon Fraser of the 57th Battalion is shown carrying a wounded comrade on his back. The term "cobber" is an Australian slang word meaning "mate" or "friend," reflecting the deep bonds formed between soldiers during even the most brutal phases of war. “The Cobbers" statue not only honours heroism and sacrifice, but also captures the values of loyalty and camaraderie.

How does the monument portray the emotional impact of war on soldiers? Does it capture the full picture?
