Gene Mundie

Gene Mundie (December 9, 1942  -  February 21, 2018) was an assistant dean at the Stony Brook School of Nursing at Stony Brook University as well as the president of the nonprofit organization Kids Clubhouse of Suffolk Inc. in Port Jefferson Station.

A graduate from Hazleton Senior High School in Pennsylvania, Gene began his storied career in nursing while attending Bellevue and Mills Schools of Nursing at New York University. He earned subsequent degrees from Pennsylvania State University, Columbia University, and Stony Brook University.

Gene was very active in the American Nurses Association of Washington, DC, American Nurses Association of New York, New York State Nurses Association, National League for Nursing, and the fraternal Kappa Gamma Chapter.

A man of character, Gene was known for his sense of humor, kindness, philanthropy, and voluntarism. Above all else, he was fiercely devoted to his family and friends.

Being community-conscious, he dedicated his time to the Ward Melville Heritage Organization, Three Village Community and Youth Services, Inc., The Walk for Beauty for Breast Cancer Research and the Kids Clubhouse of Suffolk, Inc.

After dedicating so many years his life to Nursing and Education, he finished his career as the Assistant to the Dean at S.U.N.Y. Stony Brook University.
