Juntos Somos Austin/Together We are Austin

Juntos Somos Austin, or Together We are Austin is a collaboration between Color Squad and GirlForward. Located at Lott Pocket Park, 1174 Curve St, it was created as a partnership with GirlForward, a non profit organization in Austin made to mentor young women who are refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants. The mural is colorful and boasts soft, welcoming shapes depicting figures against the yellow wall. It is meant to represent a diverse and united Austin. Its location is also seen as a place of unity– a park that is great for basketball, cookouts, and is known for its splash pad. A work of art like this makes such a welcoming space appear even more habitable, and makes it feel like a place where everyone is accepted.
