The 1992-1996 period would be known as the great stagnation, a time when the government firmly denies any privatisation of the industrial sector, in other words, they prevent Romania from becoming a true free market.
The end of the great stagnation is marked by the death of the opposition leader, Corneliu Coposu, on November 11, 1995. His death sent such a wave of sympathy that it would open a new chapter for Romania.
