Hello and welcome to the Superheroes in Wilder Park Audio Tour brought to you by the Elmhurst Art Museum. My name is Kimberly Mills and I am the Manager of Education at the Elmhurst Art Museum and curator of Superheroes in Wilder Park.
In this tour, you will learn more about the 8, newly commissioned public art installations of life-sized superhero sculptures by area artists and youth groups.
Discoverable throughout Wilder Park sidewalks and pathways, are new works by Rafael Blanco, Studio Nez, Dave Pryor, and Charles Williams Jr. along with pieces created by Robert Apolinar with Elmhurst University students, Esmeralda Bolivar with the Elmhurst Pride Collective, John Nester with Glenbard North High School students, and Gloria I Rivera with members of B. Unity & FOCUOS.
The outdoor installation is a bold preview of the Museum’s summer exhibition Marvelocity, featuring the iconic work of comics legend Alex Ross. Visit Elmhurst Art Museum’s website to learn more about the exhibition and programs.
Remember to use best practices when viewing the artwork, including not climbing on or tampering with the installations.
Feel free to share photos from your tour using the hashtag #elmhurstartmuseum for a chance to be featured on our website. Check out our free Self-Guided Architecture Walking Tour, available at the Elmhurst Art Museum front desk and Museum website.
Thank you to the many generous sponsors, DIT workshops for superhero fabrication, and artists for their contributions to this super installation & audio tour. Enjoy
