Countess Nadia de Navarro-Farber

Countess de Navarro-Farber was born to a noble family in Pleven, Bulgaria. She was a musical comedy actress and starred in several black and white movies in her native Bulgaria and Hungary. It was through her career that she encountered her first husband, who ran the operetta theater for which she performed. After their divorce,she wed a Spanish Count who served as a Diplomat to the Vatican. They lived in Monte Carlountil his death in 1949. She then moved to New York.

Nadia met her third husband, Sid Farber, as he was establishing a home development company. The two were married in 1953 and settled on Long Island. The business operated by the Countess and her husband built more than 30,000 homes on Long Island.

Known for their philanthropy, they were principal patrons of John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, among other causes. A resident of Belle Terre for more than 40 years, she was twice honored by John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson for her generosity to the hospital and to the community.

Her many other Honors include:

-The Theodore Roosevelt Award from Mather Hospital

-The Ellis Island Medal of Honor

-The Ward Melville Heritage Organization’s Golden Eagle Award

-Town of Brookhaven’s “Woman of the Year” award recipient.

-The Order of St. Sava from King Peter of Yugoslavia,

-Gold Medal from the French Academy of Arts, Sciences and Letters,

-The Silver Medal from the City of Paris.

Nadia is survived by her fourth husband Yuri Farber, her daughter Evgenia, and three grandchildren
