RED-TAILED BUTTERFLYFISH

RED-TAILED BUTTERFLYFISH

With its dark body, bright white collar and bold red tail, the red-tailed butterflyfish is easy to spot. It lives among coral reefs in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, where it spends its days searching for tiny invertebrates and coral polyps to eat.

Red-tailed butterflyfish are often seen swimming in pairs and may form long-lasting bonds. Their thin, disk-shaped bodies help them maneuver through tight spaces in the reef, while their pointed snouts make it easier to pick food from small cracks and crevices.
