PADDLEFISH

WHERE ARE THE PADDLEFISH?

As part of our rear and release program with the Caddo Lake Institute, we recently released our juvenile paddlefish back into the wild, helping to restore populations in areas where they had locally disappeared. We look forward to rearing more baby paddlefish this summer to continue this important conservation work!

The fish you see in here now represent familiar freshwater species commonly found in local lakes, ponds, bayous, and slow-moving rivers throughout our region, like channel catfish and bass.

These animals help showcase the biodiversity of backyard waterways and the interconnected habitats that support native fish populations while we prepare to welcome our next group of young paddlefish.
